1 – Create Your User Profile

Your profile is one of the most important things to do. Filling in this information is how you can easily connect with other members. All members can search these Member Profile cards to find members they want to work with and connect with.

Photo of Yourself
I know, for some people, it is difficult to put up a photo of themselves up, but I urge you to please do this. A photo will help other members to connect with you as it is always great to see who you are talking with and the build trust and friendships.

Biography
The Bio area is short. You can write it as text or just use a series of words, so we know who you are and what you are about.

Location
Your location is very important as it opens up the possibility to find local members to meet up and practice with. It will afford those in the same time zone, or a complimentary time zone, to connect and even set up online accountability groups.

2 – Introduce Yourself!

This is up to you to be as detailed as you want or as short as you would like.
A nice long introduction means members can connect with you on lots of like-minded topics.

HERE is an outline and approach I would like you to follow. I would suggest you copy and paste it in, allowing all of us to have the same format.  You can see my Introduction HERE, to give you a sense of the layout and information.

Name
City & Country
Time Zone
Scripts you Like / Dislike
What are the scripts which you go crazy for and the ones you are not bothered about. Likes first, then dislikes. You don’t need to include why, we can discuss that in the ‘Community Zone’, but feel free to expand on this if you like.

Tools you Like / Dislike

I find it useful to know this as sometimes it is the script which can connect us to the tool and vice versa. Also, helping to you try new and different tools is always fun.

Your Calligraphy Goals / What do you want to Learn
It could be something as simple as a script or a family of scripts, a technique you really love or something to do with manuscript illumination, painting and gilding. It may be a mixture of all of these or none of these. This will change as you grow in the craft

How long you have been practising
You don’t have to include this. I find it sometimes helps members to put a number down as it is like drawing a line in the sand.

How you came to Calligraphy

Sometimes this can be beautiful to recall, it can sometimes be a little painful as calligraphy calls to us when we need it most.

Ethos / Who are
Tell us a little about you, what drives you and how that connects you to your practising of calligraphy,  family, pets, likes dislikes. Any quirky things you would like to share with us. This will help like-minded members to bond more quickly and easily.

What is your reason for Joining the Community
This could be to make friends, to get support in your practice, to look for likeminded individuals, but it could also be a little more profound like the need to have some emotional support, to meditate or to not work alone.

How did you hear about PAScribe
Not a necessity, but it is always good to know how people found out about me.

Remember

The reason for setting up this community is to help you grow and support you in your growth, but it is also to help facilitate you, and others, do the same for each other.
